Mayor Sarno Welcomes Great News from Governor Baker that Springfield is in the “Green”

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno welcomed the news from Governor Charlie Baker when he announced during an event earlier today that the City of Springfield is in the “Green”!

Governor Baker announced today at a press event to kick off the historic Elm Street development project that the Massachusetts Department of Public health (MDPH) has reported that the City of Springfield is now in the “Green” and is at the lower risk for COVID-19 cases. The lower risk range indicator is a consistent daily case rate of less than 4 cases per 100,000 residents for a 14-day period.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I am proud once again to have Governor Baker and Lt. Governor Polito in Springfield today, where besides the major and historical Court Square announcement, Governor Baker announced that ‘Springfield is in the Green!’  Based on Governor Baker’s DPH’s metrics measurement map we are now classified as a green zone – ‘Fantastic news!’  This is not only a testament to the Baker/Polito Administration, but just as important to all our City team, medical community, residents and business community continued vigilance, patience, and understanding as we move forward to conquer this COVID-19 Coronavirus – A heartfelt thank you to everyone and good health!”
