|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Administrative and Financial Officer (CAFO) TJ Plante, Chief of Staff Tom Ashe and Communications Director Bill Baker met with State Senator Adam Gomez, and State Representatives Carlos Gonzalez, Bud Williams and Brian Ashe today as part of the mayor’s monthly meetings with the Springfield state delegation to continue discussions on important state budgetary and legislative matters. Devin Sheehan, Chief of Staff for State Senator Jacob Oliveira was also in attendance.

Members of the Springfield state delegation provided an update on the upcoming state budget, which Governor Healey recently released, and the amount of local aid, Chapter 90 funds and Chapter 70 funding for our municipality and schools.  Also discussed was the recent letter Mayor Sarno sent to the delegation asking for state American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding to be allocated to the city of Springfield to support the many positive and successful programs the Sarno Administration has created and initiated.  Mayor Sarno also asked for support and an update on important pending legislation he has pushed for such as bail reform and anti-dirt bike bills.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank our local Springfield State delegation members that attended today’s meeting for their continued efforts advocating on behalf of our Springfield at the State House.  We had a good and productive meeting on a wide variety of topics.  My administration has created and implemented many successful and positive programs, many of which the delegation acknowledged and applauded me for.  I am hopeful that we can continue to support these programs by bringing home some state ARPA or other funding to continue to provide much-needed relief and assistance for our residents, businesses, nonprofits and our neighborhoods.”
