Mayor Sarno states, “First, I want to thank these residents for volunteering their time to serve on these very important boards and commissions. Our local boards and commissions play an integral role in municipal government and their efforts are greatly appreciated. All of these appointees bring a wealth of experience, have a passion for community involvement and have a respective background, either through education or work experience, that make them a perfect fit to serve on their respective board or commission. I also want to highlight Ms. Marisa Zorzi’s appointment to our Historic Commission. Ms. Zorzi is a very talented, smart and successful young woman. If her appointment is confirmed by our City Council, she would become one of the youngest, if not the youngest ever to serve on our Historic Commission. Her appointment would bring a younger perspective too. She already possesses an impressive resume, with a combination of work experience and education, I have the full confidence in her abilities to serve on this very important board.”
Below are the Springfield residents Mayor Sarno has appointed to serve.
Elections Commission
Mayor Sarno has tapped Dawn Rodgers and April Robinson to serve on the Elections Commission, filling the spots designated for registered Democrats. Rodgers is a Real Estate Agent and former educator. Robinson is the Associate Principal at John J. Duggan Academy.

Mayor Sarno has also selected Marisa Zorzi as the nominee from the Western Massachusetts Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for the Historic Commission. The City Council General Government sub-committee held a hearing on Monday, February 5th to review and confirm this appointment. Her appointment will now be brought before the City Council for confirmation. If appointed, Zorzi would be one of the youngest members of the Historic Commission ever appointed. Zorzi holds a master’s degree in Architecture from the Wentworth Institute of Technology School of Architecture and currently works as an architectural designer for a firm in Hartford, CT.
Board of Library Commissioners
Rachel Sanders has been named by Mayor Sarno to serve on the Board of Library Commissioners. Sanders served in the United States Army in the Human Resources field, and currently works as a Career Coach for Internal Staff for Behavioral Health Network. She is very passionate about community involvement, education and public service.
