Mayor Sarno Visits 311 Call Center for Red Sox opening Day Celebration

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno had a great visit to the city’s 311 Call Center today where 311 Director Roy Goodman and our dedicated 311 customer service representatives celebrated the Boston Red Sox home opener today. The 311 team donned their Red Sox gear and had an array of ballpark snacks for lunch – hot dogs, cracker jacks, popcorn, peanuts, cotton candy.

Mayor Sarno stated, “What a great way to welcome Spring and baseball season! It was nice to stop in and see Roy and our dedicated 311 team decked out in their Red Sox gear getting ready to cheer them on for their home opener. I know Roy’s grandmother Viola Goodman would be so proud. Thank you to the 311 team – who do an excellent job providing customer service assistance to our residents – for inviting me to visit today, and go Red Sox!”

The Red Sox organization is particularly special to Mr. Goodman and his family. Mr. Goodman’s late grandmother, Viola Goodman, was deeply respected by Red Sox top brass and was honored by the Red Sox at Fenway Park. Roy has been involved in establishing the Viola Goodman Baseball Program in her honor – a program with over 100 Springfield youth participants that aims to teach inner-city youth the fundamentals about baseball.
