Mayor Domenic J. Sarno attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of the new Burger King Restaurant at 1245 East Columbus Ave today. This is the fifth Burger King Restaurant development in the City of Springfield by franchise owner Stan Paulauskas.
Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Mr. Stan Paulauskas for his continued belief and investment in our City of Springfield as he opens his 5th Burger King Restaurant in our city. This new business will bring many new jobs to our city, hiring mostly from the neighborhood. Any opportunity to bring new jobs to our city and repurpose a site for the benefit of our neighborhoods is a win.”
Mayor Sarno continues, “This Burger King location – which has a very comfortable atmosphere – also has the unique feature of a Community Room, which can be utilized for events and parties. Shout out to our Springfield T-Birds Mascot Boomer for helping to show off the space. As a matter of fact, my wife Carla, little cousin Brady, and I stopped by after a T-Birds game a couple of Saturday’s ago for some great burgers and fries too.”
In addition to cutting the ribbon today, Mr. Paulauskas, who is also part the of the Springfield Thunderbirds ownership, presented Matt Sparks of Honor Flight with a donation to support their mission of celebrating our American veterans by inviting them for a day of honor at our national memorials. Honor Flight offers free transportation to Veterans to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials.
Also in attendance today were Ward 3 City Councilor Melvin Edwards, President of the South End Citizens Council Leo Florian, part of Springfield Thunderbirds team ownership Frank Colaccino, Thunderbirds VP of Sales & Strategy Todd McDonald, Thunderbirds Ticket Sales & Service Manager Matthew McRobbie along with Boomer, the friendly and energetic Springfield Thunderbirds mascot.
