Mayor Sarno and HHS Commissioner Caulton-Harris Meet with Baystate Health President Dr. Keroack

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Health and Human Services (HHS) Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe met with Baystate Health President and CEO Dr. Mark Keroack and Baystate Health VP of Government and Community Relations Mike Knapik today. The discussion included the City of Springfield’s and Baystate Health’s continued response to mitigate the community spread and defeat the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

Mayor Sarno states, “I want to thank Dr. Mark Keroack, Mike Knapik and the entire team at Baystate Health for their unyielding efforts throughout this pandemic.  Together, working closely with our HHS Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris, we have taken numerous steps to mitigate the community spread of the Coronavirus and establish testing and now vaccination sites throughout our neighborhoods.  We will continue to closely monitor all federal, state and local COVID-19 cases and take any and all appropriate measures to keep everyone safe and healthy.  Dr. Keroack, Health Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and I, again, strongly encourage everyone to get vaccinated.  The data does not lie!  If you are vaccinated, the odds of you contracting serious health complications from the virus is greatly decreased.  It is paramount that everyone gets their shot, especially our younger population that continues to lag behind.  That is why, working with our HHS Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and our Vax Force, we will be creating a COVID-19 Youth Council – to provide education and outreach initiatives to our 35 and under population.”
