Jazz and Roots Festival - Letter to the Editor

From the high energy and colorful New Orleans style kickoff march from the Lyman and Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History our annual Jazz and Roots Festival paraded down our streets to our ‘new temporary venue’ at Sterns Square / Steiger Park / Bridge Street and ‘Restaurant Row’ on Worthington Street – ‘Downtown was hopping’ as we now start to get our ‘Mojo back’.

This marque event, once again, highlighted the beautiful mosaic of thousands from Springfield and beyond – ‘a good time was had by all’.  Special thanks to Kristin Neville and Evan Plotkin, the visionary founders of this harmonious community event, my City team, all our generous benefactors, restaurants/businesses and vendors.  By the way, it seemed that everywhere I went during the event there was such a good vibe about the event and our City – ‘You just can’t put a price tag on that’.  Many really enjoyed the new venue too – ‘So maybe it won’t be a temporary location?!’

Also, it was great to see so many of my old friends/classmates from our High School of Commerce Class of 1981.

See you next year.  Good health and God Bless.

Respectfully,

Domenic J. Sarno

Mayor
