Mayor Sarno and City Officials Join with Community Leaders to Celebrate Harambee 2021

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and city officials were proud to join and celebrate our community’s togetherness with Harambee 2021 at Rebecca Johnson School on Saturday, August 7, 2021. The weekend event was full of activities and excitement with food, entertainment and music.

Mayor Sarno stated, “What a fantastic and wonderful event.  I want to give a big shout-out to Veronica McNair and team for keeping the Harambee tradition going strong during these surreal and challenging times.  This is such a vibrant event and I am happy we are able to hold it again this year.”

Mayor Sarno was also honored to receive an award from the Hickory Street Harambee festival in recognition for his support of Harambee 2021.  “I am truly humbled and honored to receive this recognition,” Mayor Sarno added.  “This was a team effort to keep this tradition going strong.  From our dedicated municipal staff, all of the sponsors and of course the passion from the event organizers to pull this off at the last minute.  I want to acknowledge and applaud everyone involved for their time and efforts.  You cannot put a price tag on bringing the beautiful mosaic of the people of Springfield together.  Way to go!”
