Mayor Domenic J. Sarno joined today with Feed the Children, Price Rite, and Revival Time Evangelistic Center for a food distribution event to help address food insecurities in Springfield and the surrounding area. Also joining today were State Senator Adam Gomez, State Rep. Carlos Gonzalez, and State Rep. Orlando Ramos, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Lydia Martinez, Father Dionysios Koulianos from Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships at Feed the Children Joe Allegro, and Senior Human Resources Manager at Price Right Kathy Freedman.

Feed the Children and Price Rite provided $200,000 worth of food, personal care items, fresh produce and Disney children’s books to low-income individuals and families struggling with food insecurity. In addition, every family received backpacks filled with school supplies.

Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank Feed the Children and Price Rite for their compassion and generous donations to help address those struggling with food insecurities, especially during these surreal and challenging times as we work together to recovery and provide much-needed relief from the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic. It is so important for those who can to help those less fortunate and in need during these difficult times. Together we will get through these dark days and together we will come back stronger and better as one. A little love, compassion and understanding goes a long way.”
