The improvements for Franconia and Veterans Golf Courses include remediation work to improve drainage systems, sand bunker work including the application of spraying polymer and installing sand and Sod, and work on golf cart paths.
MAS Golf Course Renovations and Construction is the contractor doing the work. The contract value is $907,904. The City of Springfield was able to save $150,000 by doing the design specifications in house. The improvements at both golf courses follow some of the best practices and methods used in some of the most renowned courses from around the country, including Winged Foot Golf Course in New York and TPC Boston.

These improvements are needed and will enhance the experience for golfers for years to come.”

These improvements are great news for our Franconia and Veterans Golf Courses. We have two of the best Greens Superintendents in New England, Andy Gay and Anthony Kowal, and their staff do a phenomenal job maintaining these two courses. These improvements will enhance the quality of these courses and more importantly protect the courses from the constant environmental changes caused by weather. This investment and the improvements made are paramount to protect the overall quality of our courses for recreational golf for our residents.”
