The Springfield Central High School Air Force JROTC Golden Eagles are the 2021 Air Force National Champions after competing virtually in the National Invitational Drill Competition against 30 of the top drill teams from across the country.
Said Principal Thaddeus Tokarz: “I am very proud of the way that our cadets took on this daunting challenge. Many of the competing teams were in school and could utilize uniforms, equipment, and practice facilities. Despite the restrictions, our cadets smartly and safely arranged a way to communicate, practice and record a performance and meet all the deadlines.”
Mayor Sarno stated, "Congrats to our Central High School Air Force JROTC - once again our Golden Eagles show they are truly "the home of scholars and champions!"
Central’s rise to victory includes defeat of several powerhouse drill teams from states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, South Carolina, Minnesota, California, Texas, Idaho, Mississippi, and Florida.
