Manufacturing Sheet Metal Fabrication Training Program for Western MA Residents

The MassHire Hampden County Workforce Board (MHHCWB), in partnership with the Sheet Metal Workers Local 63 and the MassHire Springfield and Holyoke Career Centers are co-sponsoring a sheet metal fabrication training course for under-employed and unemployed individuals. The course is free of charge and consists of 160 hours of classroom and “hands-on” shop training.

This training program is funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development. The training is targeted towards unemployed and under-employed Western Massachusetts residents looking to change careers. “This is a great opportunity for an individual who always wanted to learn a construction industry occupation but training options were limited” states Larry Martin, Director of Business Services and Market Research for MassHire Hampden County Workforce Board. Opportunities for jobs in the service and manufacturing industries are also available in sheet metal fabrication.

Participants must reside in Western MA, have a high school diploma or equivalent and meet resident and assessment eligibility requirements. A driver’s license is highly recommended for job opportunities.
