Mayor Sarno and Administration Continue Working with City Council on Economic Development, Business, and Job Opportunities

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Chief Development Officer (CDO) Tim Sheehan, Chief Procurement Officer Theo Theocles, and Mayoral Aide Lavar Click joined with City Council President Marcus Williams and City Councilor Melvin Edwards today for an update on the city’s ongoing economic development projects and to discuss expansion of existing inclusion efforts to make involvement in Springfield’s economic development projects more accessible to minority, women, and veteran owned contractors and businesses.

As part of that expansion effort Mayor Sarno, through CDO Sheehan, will be putting together a Request for Proposals (RFP) for Technical Assistance and Guidance on becoming certified with the Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) in order to provide DCAMM Certification training to Springfield residents. The state of Massachusetts’ Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM) is the agency responsible for certifying companies to bid on vertical construction projects put out to bid by Massachusetts public agencies pursuant to M.G.L. Chapters 149, 149A and 25A. Being DCAMM certified makes it easier to do business with the City of Springfield and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Mayor Sarno states, “If you’re not state DCAMM certified, even if you’re ‘the Michelangelo’ of your field and/or specialty – I can’t get you ‘on the playing field’ to bid and compete for projects and jobs. So again, my/our push will be to get technical assistance and guidance out there ASAP.”
