Williams, and the Director of Governor Baker’s Western Massachusetts Office Jose Delgado at the Raymond A. Mayor Sarno stated, “I want to thank and commend the unyielding and dedicated efforts from our Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris. Helen has been a non-stop advocate for our residents, especially for our most vulnerable and underserved populations. With the help from Governor Baker, Lt. Governor Karen Polito, and DPH Commissioner Monica Bharel, the City of Springfield was able to secure enough vaccine doses to stand up these strategic vaccination sites in our neighborhoods for our residents.”
HHS Commissioner Caulton-Harris stated, “To continue to successfully mitigate the community spread of this COVID-19 Coronavirus it is critical that we work collaboratively to meet the public health needs of our residents especially those who historically have been underserved and marginalized. I am grateful to the Commonwealth and to AMR for partnering with the City of Springfield. This initial neighborhood based strategy to get the vaccine into our community is a good first step.”
“I want to acknowledge and thank State Representatives Bud Williams and Carlos Gonzalez for their continued advocacy on behalf of the residents of Springfield,” Mayor Sarno added. “These neighborhood vaccination sites are key to get shots into arms and to reach our residents who may not be able to travel to the mass vaccination site at the Eastfield Mall.”
Additional vaccination sites are expected to be established as the vaccine supply becomes more readily available.
