City of Springfield to Keep Cyr Arena Temporarily Closed

Executive Director of Parks, Buildings and Recreational Management Patrick Sullivan in consultation with Health and Human Services Commissioner Helen Caulton-Harris and adhering to the City’s and the Commonwealth’s public health and safety measures will keep Cyr Arena temporarily closed for two weeks.

This action is taken out of an abundance of caution to help mitigate the community spread of the Coronavirus as the City of Springfield is listed as a “Red” / High-Risk community.  In addition, ice rink activities have been identified as potential community spreaders.

After two weeks’ time, the City will review the public health metrics of data, science, and the infection rates within the City of Springfield and will reassess the situation to determine when the arena can reopen safely with minimum risk of potential community spread of the Coronavirus.

The City of Springfield and the Commonwealth are currently experiencing a second surge and spike of positive COVID-19 cases.  The City of Springfield continues to stress the importance for all residents to practice healthy hygiene and to follow and adhere to all public health and safety protocols and measures.
