Mayor Sarno earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from then Westfield State College, where he was inducted into the National Honors Society.
Former Springfield City Councilor Tim Rooke and Chief of Staff Tom Ashe were also in the meeting.

Mayor Sarno Welcomes Interim President of Westfield State University Dr. Saigo
Mayor Domenic J. Sarno welcomed Interim President of Westfield State University Dr. Roy H. Saigo. Some of the items discussed included how both the City of Springfield and the University was handling the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, the public health and safety precautions they were taking, and the transitioning into an environment of remote learning for students and staff out of an abundance of caution due to the pandemic. Also discussed was our continued partnership with our Springfield Public School system too.
