City and Water and Sewer Commission Responds to Water Main Break

For the second time this week, the City of Springfield and Water and Sewer Commission respond to a water main break, this time at the intersection of Dwight and Taylor Streets.

Mayor Sarno, Fire Commissioner BJ Calvi, Chief of Staff Tom Ashe, Emergency Preparedness Director Bob Hassett, PBRM Director Patrick Sullivan, Patrick Carnevale Governor Baker's Western Massachusetts Director, and DPW and Police officials and crews from Water and Sewer responded to the break.  Emergency responders quickly closed off Dwight and Taylor Streets and diverted traffic.  Water and Sewer shut off the valves and the water flow eventually stopped.  Once the water flow stopped the location of the break revealed itself as the pavement around the break gave way and collapsed due to erosion.

City and Water and Sewer crews will continue to work on site until repairs are made.
