Mayor Sarno and Police Commissioner Clapprood to Join with Religious and Faith Leaders for Prayer Vigil

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Police Commissioner Cheryl Clapprood will join together with religious and faith leaders for a prayer vigil of hope and healing.

From the atrocious and tragic death of George Floyd to the peaceful movements that is spreading across the nation calling for justice and reform, Mayor Sarno and Police Commissioner Clapprood will join together with religious and faith leaders from our Greater Springfield Community for a prayer vigil.

Mayor Sarno states, “I am so appreciative of Pastor Dr. Constant S. Cooley of United Temple Church of God in Christ and Pastor Eli Serrano of Restoration Worship Center for reaching out to me about coming together during these challenging times.  They read my mind, as I was thinking about this over the weekend.  Bringing us together as one not only during times of celebration but during challenging times as well.  Now more than ever, we need prayer and hope in our community and across our United States of America.”

“I welcome this outreach and coming together in prayer for our city and nation and invite all clergy from all faiths and denominations to come together with us in prayer for hope and healing,” Mayor Sarno added.

The prayer vigil will take place on the front steps of City Hall and those attending are asked to respect and adhere to social distancing aspects as we all continue to deal with and address the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
