Amtrak’s Northeast Regional, Lake Shore Limited, and Vermonter trains will return today to the historic Springfield Union Station, after previously using a temporary facility, providing customers with a better customer experience when traveling in, out, and through Western Massachusetts. Customers can now expect to see passenger information display boards (PIDS) and hear train announcements within the station and a customer service desk has also been added, which will be staffed from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m. daily. There is no change in service or timetables for those traveling to or from Springfield.

Also, many thanks to Congressman Neal, my Springfield Redevelopment Authority officials and MassDOT for their continued belief and investment in our Union Station.”
“The revitalization of Springfield’s Union Station has been a career-long ambition of mine,” said Congressman Richard E. Neal. “With the move of Amtrak’s customer service and ticketing agents to the main concourse, travelers will be able to experience the new station and all of its amenities before they get to continue on their journeys. This is another important next step in the completion of this project.”

Travelers can take advantage of the station’s modernized amenities, updated waiting rooms, and additional transit connections to continue their journey. Whether going or coming, passengers can relax in the open concourse, have a meal or a snack at one of the many dining options, or take care of any last-minute purchases at one of the retail spaces. The station features plenty of natural light as well as an inviting atmosphere that illuminates the station.
The station is home to Amtrak, the CTrail New Haven-Hartford-Springfield service, inner-city buses, Greyhound buses, Peter Pan buses, giving passengers an array of options to either seamlessly continue their journey or have increased ease of access to the station. Leased office space is also available on the upper floors.
