Public Presentations Slated for Recreational Marijuana Bidders

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno has announced that as part of the ongoing Request for Qualifications/ Proposals for new recreational marijuana businesses, a total of twenty four (24) potential bidders have requested the opportunity to make a voluntary public presentation prior to the submission of a proposal.

Mayor Sarno stated, “As I have always stressed, the intention of this process is to create a careful balance of promoting appropriate access for this new use, while also making sure we mitigate any potential security or community impacts. We also want to ensure that this is an open and fair process.” 

These public presentations will give the potential bidders an opportunity to present their proposals to the public and members of the Internal Review Committee. The proposals may address concerns such as security and traffic based on the proposed location.  

Public presentations will be held on the following dates:

Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 6pm-8pm at Van Sickle Middle School, 1170 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104

Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 6pm-8pm at Van Sickle Middle School, 1170 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104

Thursday, May 9, 2019 from 6pm-8pm at Rebecca M. Johnson Elementary School, 55 Catharine Street, Springfield, MA 01109

The proposed Request for Qualifications/Proposals are due to the City Office of Procurement by May 20th at 4:00 p.m. The proposals will then be ranked by the Mayor’s Internal Review Committee.
