Mayor Domenic J. Sarno and Police Commissioner John Barbieri were proud to welcome the newest class of Springfield Police Officers today.
Springfield Assistant City Clerk Camille Nelson swore in the 40 recruits. The class, taught by Springfield Police Academy instructors under the direction of Springfield Police Lt. Norman Charest, has recruits that will join the Springfield Police Department (29), Chicopee Police Department (7), Agawam Police Department (2), West Springfield Police Department (1) and UMass Amherst Police Department (1).
Academy Class #1118 began their six months of training to become police officers in May.
