MassMutual Foundation Announces $15 Million Grant for Computer Science Programs in Springfield and Amherst

MassMutual announced today that the MassMutual Foundation will donate $15 million to University of Massachusetts computer science programs over the next 10 years.

Of the $15 million, $12 million will support the University of Massachusetts Amherst's Center for Data Science, and $3 million will expand a cybersecurity certificate program taught at UMass Springfield in Tower Square. The cybersecurity certificate program is an eight-week, 15-credit-hour program.

MassMutual Vice President of Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation Nick Fyntrilakis made the announcement at UMass Springfield to a crowd including Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, Speaker of the Massachusetts House of Representatives Robert DeLeo, State Senate President Stanley Rosenberg, Senators Eric Lesser and Jim Welch, Representative Carlos Gonzales, UMass system Chairman Marty Meehan and UMass Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy.
