Worthington Commons & City View Commons Apartments

Gordon Pulsifer, President/CEO of First Resource Development Co., announced that on June 11, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., a Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will take place at 26 Federal Court to celebrate the completion of construction improvements for three projects - Worthington Commons Apartments, City View Commons I Apartments and City View Commons II Apartments located in the Upper Worthington Historic District. These three projects include 27 buildings for a total of 445 Apartments.
The projects had received a funding awards from the Department Of Housing and Community Development which included Federal and State Low Income Housing Tax Credits, City and State HOME Funds and Affordable Housing Stabilization Funds from MassHousing. The construction plan included a management office and community center for the residents, replacement of roofs, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, exterior and interior lighting, heating, sidewalks, landscaping, and parking lots. The plan also included an extensive security system which consists of video intercom systems in every apartment and over 350 security cameras to monitor all common areas and the exterior grounds surrounding each building. The security system is centrally located in the management office.
The projects also received Federal and State Historic Credits which were approved by Massachusetts Historic Commission and the National Park Service in Washington.
Over the past seven (7) years First Resource Development has worked closely with community leaders, Springfield Planning, Springfield Historic Commission, residents, business owners and landlords regarding the redevelopment plan for this neighborhood. Because of these efforts, the results of this neighborhood revitalization plan has led to safer place for Springfield residents to live and raise their families.
This past year, Worthington Commons received a National Housing Award (The Door Knocker Award) from HUD in Washington, D.C., for producing and being catalyst in transforming neighborhoods and improving lives for the elderly and families.
