TIMELINE FOR IMPLEMENTING MASSACHUSETTS MARIJUANA LAW

 

March 15, 2018: Initial regulations from the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC)

 

July 1, 2018: If the CCC does not adopt regulations on or before July 1, 2018, each medical marijuana treatment center may begin possessing, cultivating, processing, manufacturing, packaging, purchasing, or otherwise obtain and test marijuana and marijuana products, and may deliver, sell and transfer marijuana to people 21 years of age and over.

 

April 1, 2018: CCC begins accepting the following license applications:

 

  1. For marijuana testing facility licenses

     

  2. Experienced marijuana establishment applications for one of each of the following licenses:

    1. One cultivator license per establishment

    2. One product manufacturer license per establishment

    3. One retailer license per establishment

 

July 1, 2018: CCC begins accepting applications for retailer, manufacturer and cultivator licenses from all applicants only if there are less than 75 provisional registrations to operate medical marijuana treatment centers given by April 1, 2018.

 

NOTE: If all applicants may apply on July 1, 2018, the CCC may only give 75 manufacturer licenses and 75 retailer licenses until April 1, 2019 and 75 cultivator licenses until April 1, 2020.

 

April 1, 2019: CCC begins accepting applications for retailer and manufacturer licenses from all applicants.

 

April 1, 2020: CCC begins accepting applications for cultivator licenses from all applicants.
