This section shares helpful information for anyone who wants to feel more comfortable with computers and everyday technology. Visitors and members can learn about basic computer parts, how to send emails, how to browse the internet safely, and other simple tech skills. You’ll also find details about group workshops, one‑on‑one help, and upcoming courses offered in the Computer Room. The goal is to give everyone a friendly place to learn and build confidence in today’s digital world.

Upcoming Classes, Workshops & Events

Medicare Online Account Creation

The Shine Program and Diomaris from the Computer Room partner together to help members create their Medicare Online Account. Creating an account gives members access to several important features, including:

  • Tracking all medications
  • Viewing Medicare coverage and benefits
  • Checking claims and payment history
  • Updating personal information
  • Accessing notices and letters from Medicare
  • Viewing or printing a Medicare card
The Medicare Account Setup Assistance event, hosted by the SHINE Program through the Springfield Department of Elder Affairs, offers free one‑on‑one guidance to help members create and manage their Medicare accounts online. Participants receive step‑by‑step support in the computer room during scheduled morning sessions from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on dates including August 12 and 26, September 9 and 23, and October 7, 2026. The flyer explains what attendees should bring, such as their Social Security number, Medicare card information, valid email address, password, phone number, and a form of identification. With a focus on security and confidentiality, this program helps older adults navigate online Medicare tools, understand account setup requirements, and gain confidence using digital resources. Computer Skill For Beginners: A Step by Step Learning Guide

Gadget Tune-up & Detailing Services

A vibrant and technology‑themed flyer from the City of Springfield Department of Elder Affairs promoting a Gadget Tune‑Up & Detailing Service.
