The City through its Department of Capital Asset Construction is seeking bids for the repair and/or replacement in kind of four masonry chimneys, removal, and replacement of roofing materials at the ground level “wrap around” porch and upper flat roof (including removal and replacement of the existing roof hatch). Limited slate shingles will be replaced. Interior work includes a new ladder system to the attic level and from the attic level to the upper flat roof.
The City of Springfield, invites electronic bids from Prime Contractors and Filed Sub-Bidders through biddocsonline. Bidding procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149 as amended and other applicable statutes. Chapter 149 requires that the Prime/General Contractor be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in the category, “General Contractor.”
Bids for Prime/General Contractor will be received until 2:00 PM on April 5, 2024, publicly opened, forthwith online.
Filed sub-bid for the trades listed below will be received until 12:00 PM on March 26, 2024, and publicly opened, forthwith online.
Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified for the trades listed below, and bidders must include a current DCAMM Sub-Bidder Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Sub-Bidder’s Update Statement.
SUBTRADES: Roofing & Masonry
Estimated cost of the project is Seven Hundred Twenty-Five Thousand Dollars ($725,000.00). The Sub- Bidders will be required to pay State Prevailing Wages whenever applicable. This project is subject to the City’s Responsible Employer Ordinance.
Site Visit: Bidders are strongly encouraged to attend a site visit at Laurel Hill Rd, Springfield, MA 01108 scheduled for 3/19/24 at 10:00 AM. Contact: Robert Swain, Amenta / Emma., rswain@amentaemma.com, with inquiries concerning the pre-bid site visit. This meeting will provide an opportunity for interested parties to inspect the site and all particulars and resolve questions regarding the scope of work, existing conditions and the specifications.
Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available March 13, 2024 at www.biddocs.com (may be viewed electronically and downloaded at no cost) or hard copies may be purchased at Nashoba Blue, Inc. at 433 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (978-568-1167).
Questions must be submitted in writing to the City (nwalker@springfieldcityhall.com) by close of business on 3/20/24 for filed sub bidders and by close of business on 3/27/24 for general bidders in order to be considered. The City of Springfield goal of twenty percent (20%) MWBE participation applies. Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety Prevailing Wage rates may apply. The Chief Procurement Officer/Designee reserves the right to waive any informality in, or to revoke, any or all bids, if in the public interest to do so.
