19-016 - Demolition/Abatement 17-19 Alden Street and 321 Walnut Street

Project Scope: Removal of asbestos-containing material, building demolition, utility disconnects, removal of three single wall underground storage tanks previously used for retail sale of gasoline, & site restoration work as designated. The Project is estimated at $250,000.00.

Site Visit: Sites will be open on August 1, 2018 between the hours of 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. The tour will begin at 321 Walnut Street and will provide an opportunity for interested parties to inspect the sites and all particulars. All questions regarding the bid or its specifications must be written only and sent to the attention of Lauren Stabilo, Chief Procurement Officer at lstabilo@springfieldcityhall.com no later than August 1, 2018 by 4:00 P.M.

Bidders can request a bid package starting on July 25, 2018 at the City’s website on the Procurement Department page at www.springfieldcityhall.com at no charge; hard copies of bid package may be obtained at the Office of Procurement between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M., upon payment of a non-refundable deposit of $10.00 in the form of a certified treasurer’s or cashier’s check payable to the City of Springfield.

Please refer to the bid number and the opening date when inquiring. Chapter 149 requires that the General Contractor be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in the category Demolition. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 sec.44A (2) (B) and to prevailing wage rates as required by the Division of Occupational Safety.

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 7 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
