64A - Repair Services to the Columbus Center Garage Facility

The purpose of the project is to correct water intrusion from the facility's roof and portions of the adjoining garage into the occupied areas of the building. Inspection of the premises has identified water leaks in the existing roof structure, as well as masonry and flashing leaks, and leaks from the garage space into the building. Inspection of the roof drains on November 19th, 2007 found no problems with these items.

This IFB concerns only roof and masonry/flashing leaks and water intrusion from the garage space. Estimated cost: $200,000.00. Estimated start date: March 1, 2008.

The bidder is expected to propose permanent repairs to correct roof and masonry/flashing leaks which are appropriate for the various different sections of roof at the Columbus Center facility.

Questions concerning this IFB must be submitted in writing to: Timothy J Plante, Acting Chief Procurement Officer, Department of Purchase, 36 Court Street, Springfield, MA 01103 before 5:00 p.m. on January 16th, 2008. Questions may be delivered, mailed, or faxed. Written responses will be mailed or faxed to all bidders on record as having picked up the IFB.

Site Visit
In order for bidders to properly evaluate the scope of work in arriving at bid submissions, the job site may be visited by contacting Veronica Bruso, Acting Director of Operations and Facilities, Springfield Parking Authority, at (413) 787-6118.

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 10 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
