377 - PA: Alternative School Transportation for Homeless Students on an "As Needed" basis

The Springfield Public School Department is in need of multiple vendors to provide alternative school transportation for Homeless Students on an "As Needed" basis. The bidder(s) must have the necessary qualifications, equipment and specialized vehicles to perform the services for the City. First Student, Inc. currently provides both Special Needs and Regular School Bus Transportation and this agreement will encompass alternative transportation needs of these students.

The estimated cost is $450,000.00 per year. This agreement is for one year with the option to renew for two additional one-year terms. Contract is to be awarded to multiple vendors. Bidders shall provide Automobile Liability and Workman's Compensation Insurance in accordance with the requirements stated in the specifications.

The conditions of employment and minimum wage rates as set forth by the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety shall prevail in the execution of the work under the contract. Wages are subject to minimum wage rates and included in the bid documents.

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women (MWBE) participation in all contracts.

The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.


No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least seven business days prior to the expiration of the time set for filing proposals.
