92 - Design Services for Berte Field Renovation at Central High School

End date: Friday October 13, 2006 at 2 p.m.

Berte Field is a City-owned, multi-use, athletic, outdoor facility. The property is located at Central High School, Springfield, MA. The primary use of the facility is the High School athletic program. The programs include football, soccer, and track. Special events such as High School graduation are also conducted onsite. Structures on the property include home and visitor bleachers. The football field is natural grass and has lighting to accommodate night games or activities. The current conditions are: the field is in fair condition; the track is in poor condition; the bleachers are in good condition but not ADA accessible.

The Design Selection Committee objective is to work in conjunction with an experienced designer to create a complete renovation plan. With input from the Committee, the designer is expected to create and provide design options. When a concept is approved, a schematic preliminary plan will be completed. The preliminary design will be utilized to present to the Mayor and City Council for approval and funding. With approval and funding, the Committee will instruct the designer to prepare final design and construction bidding documents.

Estimated Total Construction Cost: $2.5 Million
Time Allotted for Completion: Complete Construction Documents for submittal to the Parks, Buildings and Recreation Department, February 1st, 2007
Fee: A Lump Fee will be negotiated.
Construction Completion: by August 31, 2007

A site visit will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Berte Field, Roosevelt Avenue, Springfield, MA 01109. Contact Rob Dill, Park Department at (413) 750-2624.

All questions regarding bid or its specifications must be received by the Department of Purchase business no later than seven working days prior to bid opening date.

The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
