230 - Services: Demolition/Deconstruction of Various Properties
End date: Wednesday March 7, 2007 at 2 p.m.The City of Springfield is going out to bid for demolition/deconstruction of each specified building plus any other building(s) on the same premises.
The properties are: 30-32 Austin Street; 34-36 Austin Street; 32-34 Church Street; 69-71 Eastern Avenue; 208-210 Hancock Street; 65 Hayden Avenue; 25 Lebanon Street; 67 Margaret Street; 85-87 Massachusetts Avenue; 74-76 Massasoit Street; 255 Quincy Street & Rear 255 Quincy Street; 185-187 Walnut Street; 256-258 Walnut Street; 401 Water Street; 849-851 Worthington Street; 879 Worthington Street.
Bid documents will be available to all parties who submit a non-refundable certified check or money order in the amount of ten dollars ($10.00), payable to the "City of Springfield". All inquiries should reference the bid number and the opening dates.
The estimated cost of the project is six hundred and eighty-eight thousand dollars ($688,000.00). Please note that the City has the option to award individual low bidders on each property or total award to one vendor. Bids for this contract are subject to the provisions of MGL Chapter 149 and other applicable laws.
Site Visit: All sites will be open and available for inspection on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Bidders may contact Carl Dietz, Office of Housing and Neighborhood Services, at (413) 787-6500.
A Bid surety in the amount of five percent of the contract value must accompany each bid, in the form of a certified check, letter of credit or bond payable to the City of Springfield. Surety bonds will only be accepted from Surety companies licensed by the State Division of Insurance to transact business in the Commonwealth.
The conditions of employment and minimum wage rates as set forth by the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety shall prevail in the execution of the work under the contract. Wages are subject to minimum wage rates as per MGL Chapter 149, Sections 26-27G.
All bidders are advised that the City of Springfield encourages the use of minority and women owned business (MWBE). The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts.
All questions regarding bid or its specifications must be received by the Department of Purchase by the close of business on Wednesday, February 28, 2007.
The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
