218 - Pavement Improvements for Arterial Streets
End date: Tuesday February 20, 2007 at 2 p.m.The City of Springfield Department of Public Works is requesting bids for bituminous concrete paving of existing roadway structure, and associated work on various public streets.
A non-refundable deposit of $50.00 in the form of a certified or bank check payable to the "City of Springfield, MA" is required for each Project Manual including specifications. A non-refundable check, to the order of "City of Springfield, MA", in the amount of $10.00 is required to parties requesting the documents be mailed. All inquiries should reference the bid number and the opening date.
The work shall include: the milling and paving of approximately 229,030 SY of asphalt pavement and the placing of approximately 28,835 tons of asphalt pavement, and associated work on various public streets within the City limits. It will also include the full depth excavation and reconstruction of approximately 5,372 SY of roadway on Oak Street. Also included will be the construction of approximately 4,160 SY of concrete sidewalk, driveways and handicapped ramps.
Estimated cost of the project: $5,000,000.00
A 5% certified check. Letter of credit or bond, payable to the City of Springfield, must accompany each bid. A 100% performance bond and labor and materials bond shall be required from successful bidder. Surety bonds will only be accepted from surety companies licensed by the Division of Insurance to transact business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The conditions of employment and wage rates, as set forth by the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety shall prevail in the execution of the work under this contract.
The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 7 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
