279 - PA: Rental of Construction Equipment

The City of Springfield is going out to bid for Rental of Construction Equipment: (Bull Dozers, Backhoes, Trenching Machines, etc.) for the Department of Public Works.

In accordance with Dept. of Transportation regulations, all vehicle operators must be randomly tested for drug and alcohol to comply with their Commercial Driver's License requirement. Written proof must be presented as to what group they are associated with for screening. This requirement will be necessary for all owner and/or operators of equipment bid.

Estimated cost per year is $250,000.00. This price agreement has an option to renew for two (2) additional years.

The conditions of employment and minimum wage rates, as set forth by the Massachusetts Division of
Occupational Safety, shall prevail in the execution of the work under the contract. Wages are subject to
Minimum wage rates as per MGL Chapter 149 section 26 thru 27G inclusive.

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 7 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
