28 - Redevelopment of 495 Chestnut Street

The City of Springfield is requesting proposals for the redevelopment of 495 Chestnut Street. The property is located in the Memorial Square neighborhood. The property consists of seven distinct parcels including a vacant school built in 1901 on a 138,916 square foot lot as well as six adjacent parcels which combine for an additional 23,167 square feet.

The City's goal is that any development be compatible with the character of Springfield and enhance the positive qualities of its Downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. It is a further goal that proposals for the Property be economically viable and demonstrate an ability to generate activity in Downtown and further benefit the greater Springfield community.

The anticipated schedule, which is in the discretion of the City and the Financial Control Board can be modified, is as follows:
