The City is interested in procuring an eco-friendly system that will allow us to clean our trash and recycle carts. Currently it is an involved task that can waste a lot of water, and time.
There are approximately 84,000 City issued carts currently being used by residents on a daily basis for their trash and recycling needs. These carts are routinely repaired and/or replaced by the Department of Public Works. In an average week, about 140 barrels are either repaired or replaced by the Department. When a barrel is taken out of service, it is kept in storage on the top floor of our administrative offices. As such, it is imperative that when these barrels are in storage they are properly sanitized before entering the building.
A proper cart cleaning system has been proven to reduce water waste, and extend the life of the carts year over year.
