24-245 - Citywide Fiber Optic Cable Installation

Bidding procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L.) Chapter 30 section 39M.

The conditions of employment and wage rates, as set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Labor Standards shall prevail in the execution of the work under this contract.

Estimated total cost of the base bid in the project: $650,000.

Project Scope: Work includes both the above ground and below ground installation of approximately 80,000 feet of Fiber Optic Cable throughout the City of Springfield. Additional work includes:
• The supply and installation of pole mounting hardware will be included in the base bid.
• Slack loops and snow shoes (supply and installation)
• Fiber termination panels and fiber connectors (supply and installation)
• Splicing and splice cases (supply and installation)
• Installation of inner duct in existing 4” duct (supply and installation)
• Pull fiber optic cable in underground conduit (installation)
• Removal of existing City Fire Alarm copper cable

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts.

All questions regarding bid or its specifications must be received by the Office of Procurement no later than June 20, 2024 by close of business.

The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
