The City through its Department of Parks, Buildings & Recreation Management is seeking bids for the renovation and improvement to an existing school commercial kitchen including new masonry wall openings to an exterior concrete pad for a new walk-in refrigeration box (by others); installation of an underground exterior grease interceptor, pump, sewer connections and associated site repairs; and the subdivision of existing classroom spaces with new partitions and doors. The construction project will include site-work, plumbing, electrical, and heating and ventilation.
The City of Springfield, invites electronic bids from Prime Contractors and Filed Sub-Bidders through biddocsonline. Bidding procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149 as amended and other applicable statutes. Chapter 149 requires that the Prime/General Contractor be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in the category, “General Contractor.”
Bids for Prime/General Contractor will be received until 2:00 PM on June 3, 2022, publicly opened, forthwith online.
Filed sub-bid for the trades listed below will be received until 12:00 PM on May 26, 2022, and publicly opened, forthwith online.
Filed sub-bidders must be DCAMM certified for the trades listed below, and bidders must include a current DCAMM Sub-Bidder Certificate of Eligibility and signed DCAMM Sub-Bidder’s Update Statement.

Estimated cost of the project is Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars ($800,000.00). The Sub-
Bidders will be required to pay State Prevailing Wages whenever applicable. This project is subject to the City’s Responsible Employer Ordinance.
Site Visit: Bidders are strongly encouraged to attend a site visit at 1435 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104 scheduled for May 18, 2022 at 9:00 AM. Contact: James Hanifan, Caolo and Bieniek Associates, Inc; JHanifan@cbaarchitects.net with inquiries concerning the pre-bid site visit. This meeting will provide an opportunity for interested parties to inspect the site and all particulars and resolve questions regarding the scope of work, existing conditions and the specifications.
Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available for pick-up at www.biddocsonline.com on May 11, 2022 (may be viewed electronically and hard copy requested) or at Nashoba Blue, Inc. at 433 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (978-568-1167). Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40.00 per set for UPS Ground (or $65.00 per set for UPS overnight), payable to BidDocs ONLINE Inc. to cover mail-handling costs.
Questions must be submitted in writing to the City (nwalker@springfieldcityhall.com) by close of business on May 19, 2022 for filed sub bidders and by close of business on May 26, 2022 for general bidders in order to be considered. The City of Springfield goal of twenty percent (20%) MWBE participation applies. Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety Prevailing Wage rates may apply. The Chief Procurement Officer/Designee reserves the right to waive any informality in, or to revoke, any or all bids, if in the public interest to do so.
