Bid No. 19-076; Windows and Doors at South End Middle School

Department of Capital Asset Improvement

Sealed bids for a Prime Contractor contract and Filed Sub-Bid contracts are requested through the Office of Procurement. Bidding procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L.) Chapter 149 as amended and other applicable statutes. Chapter 149 requires that the Prime/General Contractor be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in the category, “General Building Construction.”

Bids for Prime/General Contractor will be accepted at the Office of Procurement (Room 307 City Hall) until 2:00PM on December 20, 2018, at which time they will be publicly opened and read.

Sub Bids will be accepted at the Office of Procurement (Room 307 City Hall) until 12:00PM on December 13, 2018 at which time they will be publicly opened and read.

Project involves complete replacement of all exterior windows and doors at South End Middle School. Related work includes: asbestos abatement; masonry repairs; accessibility upgrades; acoustical panel ceilings; window treatments; plumbing; HVAC; and electrical. Estimated cost of the Project is not to exceed $1.8 Million.

The Sub-Bidders must be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in the following categories: Masonry Work; Metal Windows; Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning.

An optional Site Visit has been scheduled for 12/4/18 at 3:30 P.M. at South End Middle School 32 Margaret St, Springfield, MA 01105 (Contact Mark Caulton, City of Springfield at (413) 784-4747).

Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available for download at www.biddocsonline.com on November 21, 2018, (may be viewed electronically and hard copy requested) or at Nashoba Blue, Inc. at 433 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (978-568-1167).

Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40.00 per set for UPS Ground (or $65.00 per set for UPS overnight), payable to BidDocs ONLINE Inc. to cover mail handling costs.

All questions regarding bid or its specifications must be made in writing and received by the Office of Procurement (ttheocles@springfieldcityhall.com) by 12/6/18 (FSBs) and 12/14/18 (General Bidders) at 4:30 P.M. The City of Springfield goal of twenty (20%) MWBE participation applies. Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety Prevailing Wage rates may apply. This project is governed by the City of Springfield Responsible Employer Ordinance. The Office of Procurement reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
