19-015 - Six Corners Intersection Improvements Project

The City of Springfield is seeking to hire a contractor to provide roadway improvements to the intersection of Alden Street, Ashley Street, Hancock Street and Walnut Street. The new design for the intersection replaces the signalized intersection with a roundabout, adds traffic calming features, streetscape improvements, pedestrian improvements and signage. The work will consist of full depth roadway construction, installation of the proposed roundabout, construction of concrete sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, driveways, drainage improvements, conduit, granite curbing, landscape trees and pavement markings. The project consists of one Base Bid and one Alternate Bid. The Project is estimated to cost $2,700,000.00.

In order for a bid to be deemed valid, the Contractor must be prequalified by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation in the specific class of work with a single contract limit at or above the dollar value of the project.

Bidding procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L.) Chapter 149 as amended and other applicable statutes and reflects the changes of Chapter 193 of the Acts of 2004 relative to M.G.L.c.23A &44 and M.G.L. c. 7, and 44N. Bids are subject to M.G.L. c.149 sec.44A (2) (B) and to minimum wage rates as required by M.G.L. c.l49 §§26 to 27H.

A pre-bid conference will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 8:00 A.M. at the Department of Public Works, 70 Tapley Street with a site visit to follow. Bid documents will be available for pick-up at www.biddocsonline.com on July 25, 2018 (may be viewed electronically and hard copy requested) or at Nashoba Blue Inc. at 433 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749, (978-568-1167). Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40 per set for UPS Ground or $65 per set for UPS Overnight, payable to BidDocs ONLINE, Inc. to cover mailing costs.
