Department of Capital Asset Construction

Sealed bids for a Prime Contractor contract and Filed Sub-Bid contracts are requested through the Office of Procurement. Bidding procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L.) Chapter 149 as amended and other applicable statutes. Chapter 149 requires that the Prime/General Contractor be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in the category, “General Contractor.”

Bids for Prime/General Contractor will be accepted at the Office of Procurement (Room 307 City Hall) until 2:00PM on August 17, 2016, at which time they will be publicly opened and read.

Sub Bids will be accepted at the Office of Procurement (Room 307 City Hall) until 2:00PM on August 3, 2016, at which time they will be publicly opened and read.

Roof Replacement at STEM Middle Academy. Work includes but is not limited to raising the existing roof with new structural roof supports, PVC roofing, and associated work including gutters and downspouts, lovers, insulation, extension of existing utilities through the roof, and the removal and re-installation of existing rooftop units. Estimated cost of the project is not to exceed $1.5 Million. The Sub-Bidders must be certified by the State Division of Capital Asset Management in the following categories: Roofing and Flashing, HVAC. Bidders will be required to pay Prevailing Wages whenever applicable. This project is subject to the City of Springfield Responsible Employer Ordinance (REO).

Site Visit: Bidders are strongly encouraged to attend a site visit scheduled for July 27, 2016, at the STEM Middle Academy, located at 60 Alton Street, Springfield, MA 01109 at 9:30 A.M.

Bid Forms and Contract Documents will be available for pick-up at www.biddocsonline.com on July 20, 2015 (may be viewed electronically and hard copy requested) or at Nashoba Blue, Inc. at 433 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (978-568-1167).

Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $40.00 per set for UPS Ground (or $65.00 per set for UPS overnight), payable to BidDocs ONLINE Inc. to cover mail handling costs.

Al questions must be submitted in writing and sent to the Office of Procurement in order to be considered. All questions must be in writing and received by the Office of Procurement no later than 8/10/16 at 4:30 P.M. in order to be considered. The City reserves the right to waive any informality in, or to revoke, any or all bids, if in the public interest to do so.
