16-203 - Replace Hot Water Pumps at Three Schools

Bid No. 16-203; Replace Hot Water Pumps – Warner Elementary School, Duggan Middle School and Kennedy Middle School Department of Parks, Buildings, and Recreation Management- Facilities Division

Sealed bids for a Prime Contractor contract are requested through the Office of Procurement. Bidding procedures are per Massachusetts General Laws (M.G.L.) Chapter 149 as amended and other applicable statutes.

Bids for Prime/General Contractor will be accepted at the Office of Procurement (Room 307 City Hall) until 2:00PM on June 17, 2016, at which time they will be publicly opened and read.

The City is requesting bids for the replacement of heating system/ hot water pumps. The existing pumps, and associated piping and valves are at their end of use lifecycle. The existing pumps will be removed and disposed of by contractor. Contractor will be responsible for the following general scopes of work:
i. Install new Taco hot water circulating pumps, or equivalent as approved by City of Springfield.
ii. Install new gate valves around pumps, as well as new suction diffusers and new multi-purpose valves at all three sites.
iii. Install new electrical starters at Warner Elementary School only. At Duggan Middle School and Kennedy Middle School the electrical involves disconnect and reconnect of existing wiring.

Detailed plans of the area will be distribute at the site walk and will be available from the email address above. Estimated cost of the project is $80,000.00.

A Site Visit has been scheduled for 6/7/16 at 10:00 A.M., beginning with Duggan, then Kennedy, and finally Warner School. Bidders are strongly encouraged to attend the site visit.

Bid documents and specifications will be available at no charge beginning on June 2, 2016 in person or by contacting the Office of Procurement during normal business hours or through the City’s website; www.springfieldcityhall.com.

All questions regarding bid or its specifications must be made in writing and received by the Office of Procurement by June 9, 2016, 4:30 P.M. The City of Springfield goal of twenty (20%) MWBE participation applies. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
