Request for Qualifications for Architect/Engineer Designer Services for Mechanical (HVAC) Systems at Alfred G. Zanetti Montessori Magnet Elementary School and South End Middle School

At which time the Proposals will be privately opened and read. RFQ documents and specifications will be available for download on www.biddocsonline.com on January 14, 2015.

The City is seeking design services to conduct a Programming Study which will included the development and evaluation of potential solutions and continue through the Schematic Design Phase of the preferred alternative.

Project Description: The City is seeking design services of a qualified Designer to provide professional design and construction administration services for updated HVAC systems at two (2) City schools; Alfred G Zanetti Montessori Magnet Elementary School, 474 Armory Street, Springfield, MA, 01103, and South End Middle School, 36 Margaret Street, Springfield, MA, 01103. Both schools have been newly acquired by the City, and it is desired to provide those school buildings with new mechanical systems of a type already successfully installed at the City's other school buildings.

The Design fee will be negotiated, and is not to exceed 11% total Estimated Construction Cost for this project, which is estimated to range from $2.2 to $2.5 million dollars depending on the solution that is agreed to between the City and Designer, and approved by the City Council.

All interested parties should attend a briefing session/site walkthrough at scheduled for Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Zanetti School, 2:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M, followed by South End Middle School, 3:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. In order to provide prompt answers to questions, all proposers must submit written questions seven (7) days prior to the RFQ response deadline, or January 28, 2015. Questions may be faxed or emailed. All Proposals becomes the property of the City of Springfield. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to reject any and all proposals if it is in the best interest of the City to do so. The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women (MWBE) participation in all contracts.
