213 - RFP: Medicaid Billing and Collection Services

End date: Tuesday March 4, 2008 at 2 p.m.

The School Committee of the City of Springfield wishes to obtain the services of qualified contractor to recover retroactive and prospective reimbursements from third party payers, particularly the Federal Medicaid Program and private insurance companies, for medical services which it has provided to school children enrolled in the Springfield Public Schools.

The City of Springfield is eligible to receive Medicaid reimbursement under the Medicaid Catastrophic Coverage Act of 1988. The School Department has been approved as an official Medicaid provider.

The contractor chosen will be responsible for filing all Medicaid reimbursement applications for the period beginning April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009 plus any claims for previous years that are still pending. This contract may be
extended for a second and third year at the option of the Springfield Public Schools. Price will remain the same for the three-year period.

The total enrollment in the Springfield Public Schools was 25,682 in grades Pre-K through 12 as of October 1, 2007.

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women (MWBE) participation in all contracts.

The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
