146 - Request for Proposal For: Employment Specialist for School-to-Career

The School Committee of the City of Springfield wishes to obtain the services of a qualified contractor to recruit employers to provide internship opportunities to high school students in the Springfield Public Schools. The purpose of this position is to increase the number of internships offered to youths so that more students have the opportunity to see the connection between academics and the world of work.

The City of Springfield School Committee is seeking the services of a qualified contractor to develop a network of local employers willing to provide internship opportunities to 11th and 12th grade students in the Springfield Public Schools.

Estimated Cost for services is $40,000.00. Timeline for this project is December 1, 2006 to August 31, 2007. The City hereby requests competitive sealed proposals in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30B, § 6.

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 7 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
