14 - Library Security and Safety Managment Services
End date: Monday August 7, 2006 at 2 p.m.The City of Springfield Library Department is seeking bids for Security and Safety Management services at the Central Library, 220 State Street. The contractor will provide all labor and equipment necessary to provide the required services for the Central Library.
As the headquarters for the Springfield library system, the Central Library has more than 850,000 visitors annually. It is located on the corner of State and Chestnut Streets on Springfield's cultural Quadrangle, adjacent to Merrick Park and four museums. It is a 68,000 square foot building with two public floors and three non-public levels. The building is equipped with a sprinkler system, smoke detectors, automatic elevator recall, ADA compliant emergency signage with horns, strobes, and voice evacuation alerts, automatic closing fire doors, fire extinguishers, and wiring that that is connected directly to the Springfield Fire Department. The building also has motion detectors, sound detectors, and 24 CCTV cameras, including pan-tilt zoom cameras.
The Library Department is seeking 24/7 management services for all security and life safety equipment, as well as on-site guard service for the hours that the building is open to the public.
The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 7 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
