107 - Branch Library Security Guard Service

The City of Springfield Library Department is seeking bids for Security Guard Service at seven (7) branch libraries. The contractor will provide all labor and equipment necessary to provide the required services for the following locations, days, and times.

Brightwood Branch, 359 Plainfield St - Tues, 3-5pm; Thurs,3-7pm; Sat, 10am-2pm
East Springfield Branch, 21 Osborne Terrace - Wed, 3-7pm
Forest Park Branch, 380 Belmont Ave - Tues, 3-5pm; Wed, 3-7pm; Fri, 3-5pm
Indian Orchard Branch, 44 Oak St, Indian Orchard-Mon, 3-5pm;Wed, 3-7pm; Fri, 3-5pm
Liberty Branch, 773 Liberty St - Mon, 3-5pm; Tues, 3-7pm; Thurs, 3-5pm
Mason Square Branch, 765 State St - Thurs, 3-7pm
Pine Point Branch, 204 Boston Rd - Mon, 3-5pm; Tues, 3-5pm; Thurs, 3-8pm

The contract for branch library guard services shall be for a one (1) year term commencing on November 1, 2006 through October 31, 2007, with options to renew for up to two (2) additional one-year terms. The City shall retain sole discretion in the exercise of each option to renew. Contractor must be willing to sign the standard contract of the City of Springfield. The terms of the bid will be incorporated into the contract document.

Anticipated Cost for Service: Not to exceed $75,000

It is the intention of the Springfield Library Department to contract for the services set out in this invitation for bids with a single vendor. Bidders must provide all the services with their own employees. No assignment, subcontract, franchise or other transfer of any or all of the services required under this contract, regardless of how such transfer is characterized, shall be allowed, except at the sole discretion of the Library Department when deemed to be in the best interests of the Library Department and the City.

The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 7 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
