281 - PA: Rental of Dump Trucks with a GVW of 30,000-36,000 Lbs.

End date: Wednesday May 3, 2006 at 2 p.m.

The City of Springfield Department of Public Works is going out to bid for Rental of Dump Trucks with a manufacturers rated GVW of 30,000 to 36,000 Lbs., registered to carry a minimum of 20,000 Lbs.

All vehicle operators must be randomly tested for drug and alcohol to comply with their commercial drivers license requirement. Rental rate shall include adequate insurance, experienced operator, fuel, maintenance and repair parts necessary for operation of trucks.

Trucks will operate on and off public ways within and outside City Limits. Work to be done on an intermittent basis. Contractors will be notified twelve (12) hours in advance by phone prior to reporting time.

The estimated cost per year is $25,000.00. This agreement has an option to renew for two additional one year terms.

The conditions of employment and minimum wage rates, as set forth by the Massachusetts Division of
Occupational Safety, shall prevail in the execution of the work under the contract. Wages are subject to
Minimum wage rates as per MGL Chapter 149 section 26 thru 27G inclusive.


The City of Springfield supports the goal of twenty percent minority and women participation in all contracts. No questions will be answered unless received by the Chief Procurement Officer at least 7 days prior to the expiration of the time set for submitting bids or proposals. The Chief Procurement Officer reserves the right to waive any informality in and to reject any or all bids if it is in the public interest to do so.
