The Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts Supports Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno on His Signing of “Mayors United Against Antisemitism” Statement

The Jewish Federation of Western Massachusetts supports Mayor Sarno as he joins over 250 mayors in the US having signed onto a statement in support of “Mayors United Against Antisemitism.”

This does not come as a surprise to us as Mayor Sarno has repeatedly demonstrated his support of the Jewish Community. He stood with us and the greater Springfield Interfaith community at a solidarity Shabbat service in 2018 after the horrible events which took place at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pennsylvania. Again Mayor Sarno and our entire interfaith community joined together at the local Mosque in March 2019 to share condolences with the Muslim community for the acts of hate against two mosques in New Zealand.

Our local community leaders stand strongly against acts of antisemitism and other expressions of hate around the world. They stand ready to support and help us whenever hate tries to pull us apart. Hate is never the answer. Hate does not solve anything. Hate divides us.

We look towards a better future filled with hope and optimism that we might be able to talk out differences and build a stronger and safer world for generations to come.

Wishing us all peace, safety, and health,

Stewart L. Bromberg, CFRE
Chief Executive Officer
Jewish Federation of  Western Massachusetts
