Mayor Sarno stops to thank Roca Clean Sweep Initiative Crew

|   City News

On a chance meeting, Mayor Sarno stopped during his morning commute to work to visit and personally thank the Roca Clean Sweep Litter Patrol that was out and about in the Forest Park neighborhood by the ‘X’.

Mayor Sarno stated, “It was great to see the Roca Clean Sweep Litter Patrol out and about this morning on my way to work by the ‘X’ in our Forest Park neighborhood. I am so appreciative of their efforts and wanted to stop and personally thank them for their continued ongoing efforts to help keep our Springfield clean. They mentioned to me that, ‘hey, this is our city too!’ You just cannot put a price tag on this! Thank you to these young men and women. Special shoutout to Solomon Baymon, Director of Roca in Western Mass, and Patrick Sullivan, Executive Director of our Parks, Buildings and Recreation Management and my point person for our local clean city initiatives.”

Although this initiative only kicked off two weeks ago, the Roca Clean Sweep patrols have already responded to and cleaned over 50 sites that have been called in by residents via the city’s 311 Call Center.
