|   City News

Mayor Domenic J. Sarno expressed his congratulations to the Conservatory of the Arts Advanced Vocals students and Director of Music Marcos Carrera on their tremendous success at the cappella competition in New England. On Saturday, January 28th, the students traveled to Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, CT to compete at the largest high school cappella competition in New England; an annual event called the Wyvern Invitational A Cappella Festival (WIAF).

“I am so proud of the students, Director of Music Marcos Carreras, Principal Ryan Kelly and team for the outstanding showing at the largest high school cappella competition in New England.  Only two schools in Massachusetts qualified (other being Lexington, MA).  Our student group, ‘Revolution’, claimed the ‘Outstanding Choreography’ award and a Silver Citation (second place award) too,” said Mayor Sarno.

Mayor Sarno proudly emphasized that this achievement is a strong testament of the great talent we have right here in our Springfield Public Schools.
